What I love about the body is that it’s always trying to stay in homeosteisis. Meaning, maintaining equallibrium and balance at all times. Many systems in our body must work together to maintain this. When one system isn’t working correctly, we become out of balance or overcompensate in another area. It’s best if we take a good look at our life and determine what we can change to impact our health now and in the future. You wouldn’t want to be 55, overweight, struggling with diabetes or possibly end up with cancer! The good news is that you have a say in all of this. You can practice healthy habits that facilitate a healthy body. Even avoiding dementia in your old age.
There are 3 main area’s where the body is likely to manifest a problem. 1) genetic predispositions, 2) environmental factors, and 3) lifestyle factors. Let’s take a look at each one and see if we can’t identify an area you can improve.
This refers to health condition that are common in your family which can put you more at risk for that condition. This can totally work to your advantage. If you know your family has a history of lung cancer, you can avoid that risk by not smoking cigarettes. How about dementia? I hear cutting out gluten can do amazing things for dementia predispositions. Cancer? We have good research that sugar can feed on cancer cells. Why not cut out the sugar and add more dark leafy greens to your diet.
What are your genetic predispositions? Write them down on a piece of paper.
This refers to what you are exposed to in your environment that can have a health effect on your or create a barrier. If you live in the city, air pollution could be attacking your body and messing up your endocrine system. Make plans to get to a place where there are lots of trees and fresh air possibly once a month. What’s your water system like these days? I just found out mine is high in chlorine. I will be doing some extra filtering knowing this. Do you live next to a power plant? If so, you’re exposed to emf’s (Electro-magnetic frequency waves) and this could cause serious problems.
Write down the environmental factors you face in your city or town.
This refers to how you live your life—the foods you choose to eat and physical movement. But we can also get into relationships, career and spirituality. Do you feel balanced in these area’s?
Write down what you are currently doing…
Often we know the steps we should take to create a healthy lifestyle…less processed food, sleep, drinking more water and exercising.
Now consider what you could do in each area to promote balance and lessen the burden on your body. If you feel stressed out everyday, consider a breathing and meditation practice daily. 85% of disease is caused by stress, so it’s very important that you know how to unwind from chaos.
Write down ways you will improve your health in each area! Let me know your ideas in the comments below.
